Pay-as-you-go Residential Proxies: Billing Guide
Pay-as-you-go residential proxies charge for bandwidth without requiring a recurring subscription. Some services sell prepaid GB bundles; others bill measured usage. Compare the minimum purchase, expiration policy, protocols, and session controls separately, because the billing label alone does not define them.
How do prepaid bundles differ from monthly proxy plans?
A prepaid bundle gives you a fixed bandwidth balance for a one-time price. A monthly plan typically ties a traffic allowance or commitment to a billing period. Individual providers set their own renewal, rollover, minimum-purchase, and expiration rules.
| Question | Prepaid bundle | Monthly plan |
|---|---|---|
| What triggers the purchase? | You choose when to buy a package | The plan renews on its billing schedule |
| What should you compare? | Package minimum and unused-balance rules | Monthly minimum, included traffic, and overage rules |
| What happens to unused traffic? | Depends on the provider's expiration policy | Depends on rollover and reset terms |
| Which workflow can fit? | Intermittent testing or variable workloads | Predictable recurring traffic when the terms fit |
What does PhantomProxies charge for prepaid bandwidth?
PhantomProxies sells one-time GB packages and does not charge a recurring subscription. The current packages are listed below. A package's total price is the amount purchased, even if your first task uses only part of its balance.
| Package | Bandwidth | Total | Average per GB |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 2GB | $8.99 | $4.50 |
| Builder | 10GB | $29.99 | $3.00 |
| Pro Bulk | 25GB | $69.99 | $2.80 |
Per-GB averages are rounded. Packages are prepaid purchases; availability is confirmed separately. Check current availability.
Does pay-as-you-go mean the bandwidth never expires?
No. Payment schedule and bandwidth expiration are different terms. Check both before comparing offers. PhantomProxies keeps the purchased balance available until used, with no monthly reset.
An offer with a lower headline price per GB can still require a larger upfront purchase. Compare the total amount you need to pay for the task, along with refund conditions and the amount of unused traffic you expect to keep.
How much bandwidth should you buy for a first test?
Measure a representative sample before choosing a package. Multiply average transferred size by planned request count, then add an allowance for retries and overhead. Full browser page loads can include several requests for assets.
As an illustration, 10,000 requests at 100KB each transfer about 1GB before overhead. A 20% planning allowance gives 1.2GB. Those are explicit assumptions, not a promise that every website or successful result has that cost.
Does prepaid billing give you a fixed residential IP?
No. Billing determines how you buy traffic; routing determines which exit IP is used. A prepaid residential package can offer rotating routes or requested sticky sessions without providing a permanently dedicated IP.
Choose a session mode based on the workflow. Independent checks can use rotation; connected browser steps may need a sticky session and the same browser context. Residential availability still affects continuity.
What should you verify before paying?
Confirm that your client supports the offered protocol, the gateway has the location controls you need, and your planned use is permitted. Run a small connection test before making a larger purchase.
For PhantomProxies, starting checkout does not reserve bandwidth. Package availability is checked as the purchase is processed. Keep the service terms and refund threshold in mind when planning an initial test.
